Embracing Modesty with Grace

Scripture:   1 Timothy 2:9-10 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;  But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. In a world that often values outward appearance, trendiness, the latest fashions, expensive clothing and jewelry, and immodesty over inner natural feminine beauty and modesty, the call to modesty can feel countercultural. Yet, as Christian women, we are invited to reflect Christ’s humility and grace through our choices, including how we dress. Reflection:  Modesty is an important issue regarding our appearance but it is  not only about the clothes we wear but also about the attitude of our hearts. It is an expression of our respect for God, His word, His will, ourselves, and others. When we choose modesty, we are choosing to honor God with our bodies and to reflect His love and purity.
