Resting in Him | Devotional for Christian Women
Resting in Him
Resting in Christ is not passive; it is the active, Spirit‑empowered confidence that everything God requires of you has already been accomplished through the finished work of Christ revealed to Paul for this present dispensation of grace.
Resting in the One Who Has Already Done the Work
As Christian women, life can feel like a constant pull—family, work, expectations, women's ministry and the quiet pressure to “be enough.” But the grace-based, Mid-Acts understanding of Scripture gives you a truth that cuts through every burden:
“And ye are complete in him…” (Colossians 2:10 KJV)
Not becoming complete.
Not working toward completeness.
You already are complete in Christ.
Paul’s revelation of the mystery shows that your identity, acceptance, and standing before God are not based on performance but on Christ’s finished work (Ephesians 2:8–9). Rest begins when you stop trying to earn what God has already freely given.
Rest Because You Are Not Under Law
Many women carry invisible spiritual pressure—trying to be the perfect wife, mother, friend, or servant of God. But Paul reminds us:
“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14 KJV)
Grace means you can breathe.
Grace means you can stop striving.
Grace means God is not measuring you by your failures or successes.
Under grace, rest is not laziness—it is trust. It is choosing to believe that Christ’s strength is enough for your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Rest Because Christ Lives in You
Paul writes:
“Christ liveth in me…” (Galatians 2:20 KJV)
This is the heart of your rest.
You are not walking through life alone.
You are not carrying your burdens alone.
You are not expected to produce spiritual fruit alone.
Christ in you is your sufficiency, your peace, your stability, and your rest.
🌸 Rest Because Your Future Is Secure
One of the sweetest truths of the grace message is the assurance of your heavenly position:
“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:6 KJV)
You are already seated with Christ.
Your eternity is settled.
Your hope is unshakeable.
Rest flows from knowing that nothing in this world can undo what God has done in Christ.
📝 Journaling Prompts
1. Where in my life am I still striving for approval that Christ has already secured for me?
2. How does knowing I am complete in Christ change the way I view my daily responsibilities?
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the rest I have in Christ. Help me release every burden I was never meant to carry. Teach my heart to trust Your grace, to walk in the freedom You’ve given me, and to rest in the truth that I am complete in Him. Amen.
