Remembering Your Identity in Christ: A Devotional on Identity in Christ
Remembering Your Identity in Christ: A Devotional on Identity in Christ
When life feels loud, shifting, or uncertain, your identity in Christ becomes the quiet anchor of your soul. In this dispensation of grace, God does not ask you to become something through striving—He invites you to remember who you already are because of Christ’s finished work.
Paul writes, “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3 KJV).
Your truest life—your security, your worth, your belonging—is tucked safely in Him. Nothing on earth can redefine what God has already declared.
And again, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV).
This isn’t a feeling. It’s a fact. A spiritual reality revealed through Paul’s gospel of grace.
But remembering this identity is a daily practice—a gentle returning of the mind and heart to truth through the renewal of your mind.
Practical Ways to Remember Your Identity in Christ
- Bible Study (Rightly Divided)
Let your heart sit under the clarity of Paul’s epistles.
Study all of Paul’s epistles and notice passages that reveal who you are in Christ: accepted, forgiven, sealed, complete, beloved.
- Christian Meditation (Grace-Focused)
Meditate on what God has already accomplished for you through Christ.
Christian Meditation is simply thinking over sound doctrine. Let your mind rest on truth rather than striving.
- Christian Affirmations (Identity-Based, Not Self-Based)
Affirmations rooted in Scripture remind your heart of what God says is true.
Examples:
• “In Christ, I am complete.”
• “I am accepted in the Beloved.”
• “God’s grace is sufficient for me today.”
These are not New Age self-empowerment statements—they are declarations of God’s revealed truth for the Body of Christ.
- Journaling (Grace Reflection)
Write down what God is teaching you about your identity.
Record moments when His truth steadied your heart.
Let journaling become a place of renewal, not self-critique.
- Speaking Truth Over Your Day
Before stepping into your responsibilities, pause and say:
“Lord, help me walk today as the woman You’ve already made me in Christ.”
- Community & Fellowship
Surround yourself with women (and men) who speak grace, not guilt.
Identity grows stronger when shared in Christ-centered community (online community counts too!).
🕊 Journaling Prompts
1. Which identity truth from Scripture do I need to cling to most today, and why does my heart need it?
2. Where have I been tempted to define myself by earthly things, and how does God’s Word gently correct that?
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the unchanging truth of who I am in Christ. Help me set my affection on things above and rest in the identity You have given me by grace. Quiet my heart, renew my mind, and anchor me in Your Word today. Amen.

Thank you for spending this time in the Word with me today. My heart is to help Christian women grow in grace, rightly divide the Scriptures, and walk confidently in their identity in Christ. Through my ministry, I create resources that encourage women to rest in the finished work of Christ and live out the truths revealed in Paul’s epistles for this present dispensation of grace.
