The Beauty of Biblical Submission

Scripture :   Ephesians 5:22-23  Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Submission is often misunderstood in today’s world, but within the context of a loving, Christ-centered marriage, it is a beautiful expression of trust and mutual respect. As Christian women, we are called to submit to our husbands as an act of obedience to God, reflecting the relationship between Christ and the Church. Reflection : Submission does not mean that you are less important in God's eyes than a man, nor does it mean blind obedience. It is about willingly placing ourselves under our husband’s leadership, trusting that he will lead with love and integrity. The Bible also actually teaches that men are to lead and have authority in the churches and in society in general. In the marriage relationship this is especially important for us as believer...

Being Content as Homemakers

Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Paul had to LEARN to be content and this is also something that we need to learn. In fact Paul also said in 1 Timothy 6:8 " And having food and raiment let us be therewith content ." He mentions food and clothing and doesn't even mention shelter! Most of us in western society have far more than just food and clothing! Can we learn to be content? Yes! Paul also goes on to say in 1 Timothy 6: 9-11, "9 But they that will be rich [meaning those who make their lives all about "the mighty dollar"] fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10  For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow afte...

Reading the Bible to Our Children

Proverbs 22:6 KJV Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it. One of the most important things that you can do as a mother is to read the Bible to your children. You can share Bible verses with children of all ages. For very young children, you can find children's Bible story books to help introduce them to the Bible. Then, as they get older you can get them a children's KJV Bible.  They also have children's Bible Journaling books and children's coloring books with Bible themes and Bible verses.  For pre-teens and teenagers they have study Bibles, however these do not always teach doctrine correctly so you might want to look through them first.  The Berean Bible Society has great material for children's Bible study for those who homeschool and for Sunday school. And the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) has some great family friendly books that teach children about science from a creationist perspective (they also ...

Homemaking is a Ministry

As mentioned in a previous study, God cares about homemaking. So today let's talk about some practical ways to minister to your family through being a homemaker.  • Read the Bible together regularly and have personal Bible study time too. Proverbs 22:6 KJV Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it. 2 Timothy 1:5 “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.” As a homemaker you can make reading the Bible together as a family a regular thing. You can begin and/or end the day with reading the Bible for a certain amount of time (even 10-15 minutes is great!) as well as perhaps any grace devotionals or Bible studies that might help your children of various ages to understand scriptures.  It's also important that your children see you making your own personal Bible study a priority. You could do this before you...

Homemaking is Important to God

Homemaking is very important to God. God actually speaks about women being homemakers in scripture. Let's look at some verses. Titus 2:5 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Proverbs 14:1  - Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands. Proverbs 31 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household , and eateth not the bread of idleness. 1 Timothy 5:14  - I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. Our lives as believers should not be all about worldly achievements and ambitions. When we are saved, the reason why God doesn't just take us up to heaven immediately is so that we can remain here a little while to: 1) Give the gospel to others. This would include our own children and teaching our children Gods word.   2) Read, study a...

Motherhood is Important to God

Just as marriage is important to God, so is parenting. Fathers and mothers play such an important role in society. God cares deeply about Motherhood. The Lord Jesus Christ had his own earthly mother, a godly Jewish woman that nurtured and cared for him as he grew up. Though she was not perfect herself, she was one of the few people who stood by the Lord when he was being crucified.  Exodus 20:12 says,  "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."  Proverbs 31:28 says, "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her" As Christian mothers we are to raise our children up in the word of God. Even as grandmother's we are to help teach our own grandchildren the word of God as well (if the parents hopefully permit it!). Timothy was brought up being taught the word of God by his mother and also perhaps by his grandmother. His Father was either an unbeliever or perhaps ...
