How to Live Godly

How to Live Godly (and mature spiritually through the word)

After salvation (to be saved, understand first that you are a sinner and that you cannot save yourself. Then, simply believe how that Christ Jesus died for your sins, was buried and rose again for your justification):

1. Read - Read God's word daily. It is meant to be our daily bread. Consume it regularly like you would food that you eat, perhaps several times a day.

1Ti 4:13 KJV -

13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

Mat 4:4 KJV -

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

2. Study - Study out God's word. Begin in the book of Romans which is foundational doctrine for us today in the dispensation of grace. Learn to rightly divide the scriptures as well. Study each book in Paul's Epistles first as these are written specifically TO us today, verse by verse and then study the rest of scripture which is for our learning.

2Ti 2:15 KJV -

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom 15:4 KJV -

4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

3. Meditate- Really meditate upon or think over the verses. After your daily reading and studying, Really think over the verses- what it means, how you might apply it to your life, etc. This also allows scripture to go from being just head knowledge to getting down into your heart.

1Ti 4:15 KJV -

15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

4. Believe - Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. We can only live according to God's word rightly divided when we believe it.

1Th 2:13 KJV -

13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Eph 6:16 KJV -

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Eph 3:17 KJV -

17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

2Co 5:7 KJV -

7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

1Co 2:5 KJV -

5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Rom 10:17 KJV -

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

5. Obey - Obey God's word rightly divided, which means to live out what you have learned and to apply the doctrine to your life. It means to yeild yourself over to do the will of God. Today we are to walk by faith and not by sight.

Rom 16:26 KJV -

26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

Rom 6:13 KJV -

13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Rom 6:16 KJV -

16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Phl 4:9 KJV -

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

All of these things will also

• Help others come to Christ

• Help others to desire to learn God's word rightly divided and then live it out.

• Produce the fruit of the Spirit in your life (peace, hope, joy, charity etc).

• Leads to rewards and crowns in heaven.

• Brings glory to God.
