Letting the Past Go | Careful for Nothing Devotional

Letting the Past Go

As believers, we have been completely forgiven of all past, present and future sin.

Col 2:13 KJB

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Our old sin nature has died, we are a new creature in Christ, complete in Him and accepted completely by God.

Romans 6:8

8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

2Co 5:17 KJB

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Col 2:10 KJB

10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Eph 1:6 KJB

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

We can thus let our past go. Whatever bad things were done to us, we can let it go by forgiving others and leaving vengeance in God's righteous hands.

Eph 4:32 KJB

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Rom 12:19 KJB

19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Whatever bad decisions you made in the past, you need to let it go. Make amends if you can, begin making better decisions today and keep moving forward in your spiritual growth by daily reading, studying, meditating upon, believing and obeying Gods word rightly divided (that's also how we can make better decisions in life). Paul says,

Phl 3:13 KJB

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Even our past accomplishments, we need to let them go too and stay focused primarily today upon "the work of the ministry" (ministering to our families; preaching the gospel to the lost; sharing sound grace doctrine rightly divided with believers; etc).

Eph 4:12 KJB

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

2Ti 4:5 KJB

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Be determined in your mind not to let your past hold you back from living godly. Keep reading, studying and meditating upon scripture, and then applying it to your life. It will work effectually in and through you.

1Th 2:13 KJB

13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Eph 4:23 KJB

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

The bonus to this is that letting go of your past will also help free you from anxiety, stress, worry and depression.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Praise the Lord!
