Thankful for Our Salvation
Romans 5:6 KJB says, "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly."
Well, who were the ungodly? Everyone! Before we believed the Gospel of our salvation, we were the ungodly. Nothing we did, even our socalled "good works" was profitable for God. In fact, we were at enmity with God.
Romans 5 verse 10 says, "For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life."
God gave up His dearly beloved Son to save us. Christ died for our sins, was buried and then was risen from the grave so that we could have NEW ETERNAL LIFE with Him. Let's read all of Romans 5:6-11 KJB
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
We have Christ's life now! We have what is called imputed righteousness. The very righteousness of God is imputed to us the very moment that we simply BELIEVE the Gospel of the grace of God. Romans 4: 24-25 says "But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."
Believers are justified, sanctified and have eternal life through Christ Jesus. It is the faith OF Christ (His faithfulness to die our death and then be raised from the dead) that keeps us eternally saved too once we have placed our faith in the finished work of the cross.
We truly have so much to be thankful for!
