Why I Returned to Facebook After 5 Years
Hello dear Sister's in Christ!
Early last year I published a book called "Overcoming Smartphone Addiction for Christian Women ". It's available on Amazon, Kindle and now also in my webstore (CLICK HERE). In the book I help you to learn how to set boundaries with your smartphone and social media usage (and screens in general). I wrote in the book that I had not been on social media for about 5 years. Well, in September of 2025 I had a moderate injury that left me bedridden and for whatever reason caused severe chronic fatigue and all over nerve pain. I've been in recovery ever since and improving daily, weekly and monthly though it's a slow progress.
Around thanksgiving time I wasn't able to do much so I decided to join Facebook again. At first I noticed my nervous system get a little overwhelmed but decided to continue using it but with strict boundaries. I'm glad I did because it's allowed me to fellowship online with other grace believers and I can share the gospel and other encouraging content as well. I haven't had the energy or time yet to get back to making my full podcasts and videos but have used AI to create little encouraging devotionals and other content that is based on sound doctrine. I'm so thankful!
So I just wanted to share that. In my book I talk about how each of us needs to decide for ourselves our own boundaries around smartphone and social media usage. For me I'm back on Facebook but I use it for about an hour or less each day and primarily to make my own posts there. I removed comments from my posts only to help me not be constantly checking replies. I also curated my personal social media feed to be positive and encouraging as well.
