Devotional | Staying Focused on Good Things

In the midst of our busy lives, it's easy to become overwhelmed and distracted by the challenges we face each day. As Christian women, it's important to stay focused on good things and that includes primarily staying focused on God and His Word, to maintain a heart full of joy and peace. This devotional will guide you on how to keep your mind and spirit anchored in God's promises throughout the day.

Morning Reflection:

Begin your day by dedicating time to God and setting a positive tone for the hours ahead. Spend a few moments in prayer and reflection, asking God to fill your heart with His peace and guidance. Think also of at least 5 things in your life that you are thankful for right now.

"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." - Psalm 118:24 (KJV)

Say aloud or in your mind: Today is a gift from God. I will rejoice and be glad, knowing that He is with me every step of the way.

Midday Encouragement:

As the day progresses, it's important to take breaks to refocus and recharge. Use these moments to meditate on God's Word and remind yourself of His promises.

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." - Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

Say aloud or in your mind: God's Word guides my steps and lights my path. I will stay focused on His truth and let it lead me.

Afternoon Uplift:

When faced with challenges or negative thoughts, turn to Scripture for comfort and strength. Speak God's promises over your life and trust in His plan for you.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28 (KJV)

Say aloud or in your mind: God is working all things together for my good. I will trust in His purpose and remain positive, hopeful and optimistic.

Evening Reflection:

End your day with gratitude and a heart full of praise. Reflect on the blessings you've experienced and the ways God has shown His faithfulness. Think also of anyone that you need to forgive and forgive them.

"I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety." - Psalm 4:8 (KJV)

Say aloud or in your mind: I will rest in God's peace and safety. His presence brings me comfort and assurance. I forgive others as Christ has forgiven me.

Throughout the Day:

Keep God's Word close to your heart by memorizing key verses and repeating positive statements. Surround yourself with uplifting christian music, beautiful art, encouraging friends, and inspiring devotional materials, commentaries and faith based books, movies and TV shows. Spend time in nature daily as well, and enjoy Christian friendly hobbies. Be thankful to God as you cook, clean and take care of your home, your children and as you spend time with your husband.

"Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice." - Philippians 4:4 (KJV)

Say aloud or in your mind: I will rejoice in the Lord always. His joy is my strength, and I will focus on good things.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this day and for Your unending love and faithfulness. Help me to stay focused on the good things in my life and upon You and Your Word throughout the day. Fill my heart with joy, peace, and gratitude, and guide my steps according to Your perfect will. Strengthen me to overcome challenges and remind me of Your promises. I trust in Your plan for my life and rejoice in Your loving presence. In Christ's name, I pray. Amen.
