I'm Saved, Now What?
After Salvation what should I do?
If you have clearly understood that you are a sinner who cannot save yourself, and have then believed the Gospel of the grace of God (how that Christ Jesus died for your sins, was buried and he rose again for your justification; see 1 Cor 15: 1-4) then you are now saved! You are now a child of God, with Christ’s righteousness imputed to you, and all of your sins -- past, present and future -- are now completely forgiven!
Here is what I recommend that you can do after you have been saved (after believing the gospel of your salvation):
1) First, I do recommend getting a King James Bible and begin to read and study the book of Romans, which is foundational doctrine for the believer today. I have started a simple series of videos/podcasts going through Romans available on my YouTube channel and blog (click here for the first blog). You will learn many important things from the book of Romans such as justification, eternal security, your identity in Christ, and more. This is important because you need to know who you are in Christ and how to live the grace life so that you don't live in fear, guilt and self-condemnation (a result of legalistic teachings) and can serve God from a place of rest, peace and love.
[**Please also check out my blog post entitled "where to begin?" that includes direct links to my Romans Bible studies.**]
2) Also, consider starting a Bible reading in a year program and along with studying Romans, begin to read through the Bible beginning in Genesis. Reading and Studying are different. Reading can help you get familiar with the Bible while studying is a way to really focus on what God's word is teaching you in more depth.
God wants us to know Him, serve Him as sons, and gain rewards in heaven. We can only be effective if we “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15).
3) Learn more about MidActs Rightly Divided Dispensational Bible study. This is not a denomination, but a way to study the Bible. (Videos, blogs and podcasts on this coming soon. In the meantime, check out the Berean Bible Society website for more information about rightly dividing in depth, as well as Les Feldick Through the Bible on YouTube which are great Bible study videos especially for those new to the grace message. For women specifically I recommend checking out my friend Deborah Johnsons website for a free monthly Grace newsletter and several free downloadable books. I'm not associated with these ministries, but they are good, trustworthy grace ministries. There are other great MidActs Grace ministries as well).
4) Be patient with yourself and give yourself grace as you grow spiritually in knowledge, wisdom and understanding God's word. I do also recommend praying regularly.
5) Also, remember that you can always share the gospel with others at anytime too! But remember to share a clear gospel message (see 1 Cor 15: 1-4) which is that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again for our justification and that by simple faith in this gospel we are saved.
