People Pleasing
"The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe." Proverbs 29:25
Pleasing man is a never-ending struggle which no one can ever achieve.
Gal 1:10
For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
This is primarily in the context of not moving away from the grace message. But can also be applied to other areas of our life too. Living our lives to please men, rather than God, can lead to burnout, anxiety and depression.
In the area of sharing sound grace doctrine, as believers if we wanted approval from more people, we would no longer talk about the grace message. If we wanted the approval of man, we'd join a denomination, start keeping religious practices like lent or Sabbath keeping and try to fit in more instead of sharing the Gospel of the grace of God and teaching sound grace doctrine and allowing Christ to live in and through us. The temptation to "fit in" is always going to be there, especially the more that you suffer for the sake of the gospel. But if we can stay heavenly minded, the Lord will help us to bear the temptation.
1 Corinthians 10:13
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
