How Grace Teaches Us Godliness
How Grace Teaches Us Godliness
Grace is not only God’s kindness toward us—it is His active teacher. In this present dispensation, God does not motivate us by fear, law, or threat. He works in us through the quiet, powerful ministry of grace. Paul writes:
“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.” — Titus 2:11–12 (KJB)
Grace teaches—not by force, but by revealing who we are in Christ. Under law, godliness was demanded. Under grace, godliness is the natural outflow of our new identity.
Paul reminds us:
“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” — Romans 6:14 (KJB)
Grace frees us from the dominion of sin by placing us into Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. It teaches us to deny ungodliness because we have already been made new. It teaches us to live godly because we are already accepted, sealed, and blessed with all spiritual blessings.
Grace never shames.
Grace never intimidates.
Grace never threatens.
Grace lifts our eyes to Christ—
and in beholding Him, we learn to walk like Him.
The more we rest in what God has done for us through the finished work of Christ, the more our hearts respond with gratitude, stability, and godliness. Grace shapes us from the inside out, aligning our daily walk with the truth of who we already are in Him.
📝 Journaling Prompts🩷💜🩵💙
1. Where do I sense grace gently teaching me to let go of something that no longer aligns with who I am in Christ?
2. How does remembering my identity “in Christ” change the way I approach godliness today?
🙏 Prayer 🩷🪻💜🌷🩵👒
Father, thank You for the grace that saved me and now teaches me. Help me rest in who I am in Christ and let Your grace shape my thoughts, choices, and desires. Teach me to walk godly—not by striving, but by trusting in Your finished work. Amen.
