Some Favorite Things in February
Happy February dear sisters in Christ! I wanted to just make a fun blog post about some things that I have been enjoying lately.
Anne of Green Gables book, part of the puffin in bloom book collection.
I've really been enjoying re-reading Anne of Green Gables but I am actually reading it alongside a devotional called "The Anne of Green Gables Devotional." This is a Christian devotional that also uses lessons from the book Anne of Green Gables. The Description says, "The Anne of Green Gables Devotional offers lovely inspiration that explores the theme of God’s love and faithfulness through the pages of the classic L. M. Montgomery novel, cherished by generations of readers. Each reading corresponds with a chapter from the book and invites you to embrace God’s redemptive plans for your life as His very own adopted daughter in Christ.
This beautiful 40-day devotional includes original artwork throughout, and each reading includes examples from the novel, scripture, life application, prayers, and discussion questions perfect for groups, book clubs, or personal reflection."I'm actually reading it just once a week but I am really enjoying it! It is a light devotional but fun and anyone from any denominational background would enjoy it, that is of course, if you also like the Anne of Green Gables book!
Persuasion movie (2007 version)
So believe it or not, I only just recently watched the 2007 version of Persuasion. My daughter was born that year, so I must have just been too busy to have watched it! haha. But, I watched it recently on Amazon Prime and I enjoyed it. I wasn't too crazy about some of the shaky-camera scenes but it was still an enjoyable film.
Wind at My Back TV Series
Wind at My Back is one of my favorite family-oriented TV shows of all time. The synopsis of the show is: "The bankrupcy of their hardware store forces Jack and Honey Bailey to move their young family to New Bedford, a small town where Jack's affluent family owns a silver mine. When Jack is killed in an accident soon after their arrival, his mother informs Honey that she is no longer welcome in the Bailey home. Knowing that she cannot support her three children on her own, Honey is forced to leave them with her mother-in-law while she looks for work in a nearby town. Set in Ontario in the 1930s, "Wind at My Back" follows Honey, her children and the Bailey family through the era known as the Great Depression."
Considering the hard economic times and inflation that we are all going through today, this is a great show to help encourage us through difficult times. I also really love the way that most of the women dress in this show. It is modest and feminine. CLICK HERE to watch free episodes.
Whisper Hope album by Mary Beth Carlson (available on Spotify)
This is another album by Mary Beth Carlson that I really enjoy. It is something I listen to often when I am doing my bible studies. It is peaceful and joyful. CLICK HERE to listen on spotify.
