Justified by Faith

Romans 5:1 - Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

This verse should bring all believers great comfort and joy! Simply by believing in Christ's death, burial and resurrection as atonement for our sins, which is the ONLY way to be justified, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of what Jesus did for us we are also eternally secure in Him.

Romans 5:1 | Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

This is such a wonderful verse to read. It brings a believer so much comfort knowing that by simple faith in Christ's death, burial and resurrection we now have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Doesn't this bring you so much joy!

When I was a little girl I was given the gospel. I understood even at that time that I was a sinner and I believed that Jesus died for my sins, was buried and rose again. I didn't understand too much beyond that for many years. I eventually walked away from my faith and then in 2017 I again heard a clear gospel message and believed it. I knew without a doubt at that time that I was saved, and even that I had actually been saved all these years since I had believed as a little girl. I was so incredibly thankful. I also at that time, in 2017, began to learn sound grace doctrine rightly divided. I was so thankful and I still am!

It is really sad that so many people today in Christendom believe that they must do works in order to be saved. Even worse are the false teachers that preach this every Sunday from their pulpits. What will happen to false teachers? If they never believe the gospel for themselves before they die, they will spend eternity in the lake of fire. In fact, false preachers will get the worst parts of hell. This is because they had numerous opportunities to believe the gospel and God's word but refused it and even taught things contrary to God's word to many people sometimes even millions of people! They will be judged according to their works.

Revelation 20:11-15: “[11] And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. [12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. [13] And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. [14] And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Please do not listen to preachers that teach things contrary to God's word rightly divided. If they cannot even give a clear gospel message, then it is best to mark and avoid them.

What does it mean to have peace with God?

Believers have peace with God. This is everyone's greatest need! Once you have recognized that you are a sinner and cannot save yourself and have then simply believed the Gospel, how that Christ Jesus died for your sins, was buried and rose again for your justification, then you are saved and this includes having TOTAL PEACE WITH GOD.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Lord of peace, and as believers we have peace with God because of what Christ did for us.

Romans 5:1 - Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Thessalonians 3:16 also says, - Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

Because of the finished work of the cross, believers can also operate in and according to God's love, grace and peace. We have God's Spirit in our spirit and as we also study His word rightly divided, the word produces peace in our inner man.

Philippians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:6 - For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Unbelievers do not have peace with God. God loves them and wants them to be saved but they have free will choice in whether or not to believe the gospel of their salvation. If they choose to never believe the gospel before they die, then they die in their sins and will be punished for all of eternity for their sins in the lake of fire. God is Holy and cannot allow sin to go unpunished.

*note: children are also accepted into heaven if they die before reaching the age of accountability.

Unbelievers do not know true peace. If they die in their sins, they will never know what its like to even experience God's peace. How awful!

Satan has a counterfeit peace. He is okay with satisfying our fleshly desires if it also means keeping unbelievers from the gospel truth or even if it means keeping believers from earning rewards. The false prosperity gospel is one example of Satan’s false peace! It's a perversion of the gospel that focuses primarily on carnal, earthly things like health and wealth.

2 Corinthians 11:14

14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

But praise the Lord, believers today have total peace with God! To have true peace with God, recognize that you are a sinner and you cannot save yourself and then simply believe how that Christ Jesus died for your sins, was buried and rose again for your justification.

Because believers have peace with God we can now also experience the peace of God.

Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Understanding our Eternal Security

Understanding our eternal security in Christ is very important. We need to understand it before moving into further chapters in Romans. It's important for knowing our identity in Christ, which also helps us to walk in the Spirit and to serve God as a believer. Too many believers are serving God purely to try and maintain their salvation, which means that they are actually living according to the flesh (fleshly efforts) rather than walking in the Spirit.

It's also important to know that most denominations do not believe in nor teach eternal security. This is very sad. I couldn't imagine living my whole life believing that every time I sinned, I just lost my salvation or that I must continually confess all of my sins and do works to maintain my salvation. Because I know that I am eternally secure in Christ, I can focus rather on allowing Christ to live in and through me by continuing to be edified in sound grace doctrine, evangelizing to the lost, encouraging fellow believers and teaching other believers sound grace doctrine (this is godly living). One is focused on my own fleshly efforts the other is focused on Christ and His word and allowing Him and His word to live in and through me. I am also incredibly thankful! Not only for my salvation but also to be eternally secure in Christ and to have all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus as well.

Salvation is an incredible gift!
