Romans 5:9-11
Thank you Father God for this time that we have to spend together reading and studying your word, in particular, Romans chapter 5. In Jesus's name we pray, amen.
9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
From the very moment that we believe the gospel, we are NOW justified by his blood. Christ bought us with his blood. No one is saved without the blood of Christ! He lived a perfect, sinless life and then died for our sins. All that is required for us to be completely forgiven, justified and redeemed is to have faith in what He did for us. It also says here that we shall be saved from wrath. We are saved from hell and the lake of fire, but also from the wrath to come on the earth which is the seven year tribulation. The tribulation occurs AFTER the church the Body of Christ is raptured out. ALL believers from the dispensation of grace will be at the pre-tribulation rapture.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 KJB
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Romans 5:10 then says,
10For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
When we were still sinners, Christ died for the ungodly. God made it possible, through Christ, for anyone to be saved. The only requirement on our part is faith and faith is NOT a work. Now, as believers, once we have believed the gospel, it is Christ's life that gives us life. His Spirit comes to live inside of our spirit for all of eternity once we have believed the gospel. We are also given the mind of Christ. With daily renewal of our minds with God's word rightly divided, we can then live out the grace life, which is allowing Christ and His word to live in and through us as believers. We do NOT live the Christian life by trying to please God with our own fleshly efforts even as believers. We live out the grace life by renewing our minds with God's word rightly divided, believing it and obeying it.
Thus, we are also saved from living a meaningless life. Unbelievers, no matter how successful, happy, healthy or wealthy they appear to be in life, are not in alignment with God's will and therefore live a life of utter meaninglessness. Everything that they do will result in judgment at the great white throne and then they will be cast into the lake of fire for all of eternity if they never choose to believe the gospel before they die. Everything in life should be all about the Lord Jesus Christ and Gods glory plan. Ephesians and colossians, which are more advanced doctrines, go into this (God's glory plan) in more detail.
Romans 5:11 then says
11And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
We also have joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have much to rejoice about! We are saved from hell, wrath, religion, sin and the flesh, and we no longer belong to Satan’s kingdom of darkness but are now a part of God's kingdom of light. We are members of Christ's body and we have all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus! We have eternal life! God lives in us and we are hid with Christ in God. We can also look forward to the rapture, getting our new eternal glorified bodies, receiving our rewards in heaven and being given our eternal careers, and enjoying life in the heavenly places with no sickness, pain, sin, evil, or death!
It also says that we, as believers, have NOW received the atonement. This is important to understand. In Israel's prophetic program, they do NOT receive the atonement until the Lord's second coming to the earth. Acts 3:19 (before Israels program was temporarily put aside and before the dispensation of grace began) says, "19Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;" referring to His second coming to earth at the end of the tribulation period.
When we, believers in the dispensation of grace, sin after we are saved, our sin is already completely forgiven (even all past, present and future sin) because it has already been atoned for by the blood of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. This means that we are ETERNALLY SECURE IN CHRIST JESUS. We can NEVER loose our salvation no matter what! No wonder we have so much joy!
Israel during the tribulation period (and even Gentiles during that time) are required to have faith plus works of faith, including enduring until the end of the tribulation period (or until they are martyred if that happens). They cannot take the mark of the beast, for example, or they WILL loose their salvation even if they once had faith. It's very different from our mystery dispensation, in which believers NOW have the atonement, meaning that we are eternally secure in Christ from the moment that we believe the gospel.
Israel is waiting for their future reconciliation and fulfillment of their day of atonement at the times of refreshing, but now we as believers in the dispensation of grace, have joy in God because we have NOW the atonement. Praise the Lord!
