1 Corinthians 1:10 | Verse by Verse Bible Study

Father God, thank you for this time that we have to read and study your word rightly divided. Please help us to learn how believers can "be of the same mind" and "speak the same thing" and that there be no divisions among us by us rightly dividing the word of truth. In Jesus's name we pray, Amen

1 Corinthians 1:10

10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

This is such an important Bible verse. In Christendom today, the denominations (and evangelicals and fundamentalists) do NOT all speak the same thing and there are all kinds of divisions! There are over 28,000 "Christian" denominations! They can't even agree on the most basic and fundamental doctrines like justification and eternal security. The primary reasons for this are because they

• do not obey 2 Timothy 2:15 in the KJB which says, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

• Do not understand or even acknowledge the dispensations

• And they also do not recognize that the Apostle Paul is our Apostle.

• They don't understand that the church the Body of Christ began in Acts 9 and not Acts 2 (though believers before that are also "in Christ" but have a different program and an earthly inheritance whereas we have a heavenly inheritance)

• Often use modern bibles instead of the King James Bible, which is the perfectly preserved word for us in the English language. Modern Bible versions are corrupted.

Until they SEE the mystery, they will continue to be blinded by Satan and will continue to have divisions amongst themselves.

Having the same mind means

• Obeying 2 Tim 2:15 to Rightly Divide

• Understanding Christ's heavenly ministry today

• Following Paul (as our pattern) as he followed Christ

• Understanding our identity in Christ and other foundational doctrines in Romans

• Taking personal time to read and study God's word rightly divided, allowing the Holy Ghost to teach you the things of God; believing and meditating on God's word; allowing Christ to live in and through us as believers

Without this, believers will not be of the same mind.

Once we understand sound grace doctrine we are to continue to grow in faith and spiritual maturity by continuing to study and teach the whole Bible rightly divided. We are NOT to stray from sound grace doctrine or to be "tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine." Sadly, even some grace beleving right dividers have been swayed by false doctrines and have left the faith. We are to STAND FAST and not be swayed. Just a little bit of bad doctrine can lead to more bad doctrine and grow like a cancer. So, we must always be on guard. We do not have to agree with every grace beleving right divider 100%, but in order to be "of the same mind" we need to at least be in agreement on most things especially the most important doctrines like salvation, sanctification, our blessed hope, our spiritual blessings, Paul being our Apostle, the believers judgment seat of Christ and other such doctrines. Secondary issues like "Gap theory", old earth or young earth, flat earth or round earth, angels mating with women or not in Genesis 6, etc are not issues that we have to totally agree upon.

Eph 4:14 KJV -

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

2 Tim 2:16-17a

16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

17 And their word will eat as doth a canker:

Father God thank you for teaching us in your word how we ought to think and how believers can be of the same mind and having the same judgment. In Jesus's name we pray, amen.

Homework: Something to think over ... Have you been in churches that had divisions and quarrels? Why do you think that is? In Christendom as a whole, do we all "speak the same thing"? Are we "of the same mind"? Is there divisions within Christendom? What is the solution to this?
